Here’s a simple DIY Valentine’s Day Heart banner that I made to celebrate February. I was inspired by this pin on Pinterest of a BHG paper heart garland. With the Silhouette I knew this would be a breeze to make. I have a lot of valentines paper (waiting to be made into layouts) in my stash and used Cosmo Cricket (Chemistry collection) paper for this banner.
Here’s a quick summary of how I made it and let me say it was a quick project! Cut the shapes & strung them together in just 30 minutes. I used the 11 hearts shape found inn the Silhouette store by Lori Whitlock. Used just one of the hearts from the set and then made it about 3×3.
I then separated the two pieces and put the scalloped heart on one page. Here’s what my pages look like in the Silhouette Studio.
I put the standard heart on another sheet and made it even smaller so that the outside heart would have a good setback.
I cut 4 sheets each of the two hearts. By making two separate cut files I made sure that all the hearts would be different patterns for the outside/inside pieces. I love the fancy edge the scalloped shapes offer.
I was quickly done with the cutting and assembled my hearts together. I recommend using double sided paper so that you can make more combinations.
As you can see, I hung the banner across our headboard to add a festive touch for February. I am happy with how it turned out! I love how easy it is to make banners and projects with the Silhouette.
It was really hard to photograph this banner hanging on the headboard. The light is super low right now since it’s winter makes it challenging. These photos of the banner hanging don’t have the warmth that I normally like to convey, at least the photos of making the hearts (above) from my craft room are warm enough to show the full colors of the paper hearts.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you!! Hope you get to enjoy some sweet treats with your loved ones.
