Here’s a quick layout I made with the Boy Crazy page kit from Scrapbook Generation. I like using page kits from time to time to help get me closer to my goal of being caught up. This boy crazy kit comes with everything you need to make the layout and even a sketch so you can do it again. All you have to do is assemble!
The sketch outlined 5 photos but I wanted to add two more for a total of 7 photos. I changed a 5×3.5 photo to a 2×3 (on the far right side with the three kids) and then added the two 2×2’s to the layout. I like how many photos you can add to this layout and LONG title across the bottom.
This Take a Hike line is great for the camping trips & hikes in the mountains. I used it for our camping trip from last summer and this might be the most recent event that I’ve scrapped. If I go by my chronological list of pages to scrap I am working my way through 2011 now.
I subscribed to some of the monthly SG kits during 2012. I’ve stopped them now so that I can get through them all and also need to finish up with my stash. I haven’t had to buy any paper or embellishments for layouts for quite some time (at least 6 months)! I love all the new stuff out there after CHA but I am holing back till I actually need new supplies for layouts. We have another scrapbook retreat weekend coming up soon and I am excited to get more layouts completed.

Here’s a layout that I made while on holiday break. This was another fun one to make with Nordic Holiday collection. The snowmen paper and chipboard accents are so adorable!
I used one of Allison Davis’ two-page sketches. I’ve followed the sketch mostly but squeezed in one more vertical 4×6 to include 6 of my favorite photos from this afternoon.
The green & red color combo seemed to go well with Gavin’s jacket. What a fun time he had playing in the snow. I hope we’ll get some snow this year, so far nothing!
After taking these photos I think that the area around the big snowman looks empty. I’m planning to add some red crystals stickers to add a little more color around the snowman & hearts.
I’ve said it before but I just love all the sweater like patterns in this line. These hearts are my favorite, love the needle point detail! This makes 6 layouts I’ve done with the Nordic Holiday collection. I am done for now but I do have a bit more supplies left so I will try to make 1 or 2 more with Nordic Holiday when I get back to holiday layouts.
Starting to plan for our upcoming scrapbook retreat weekend where I am hoping to wrap up all my 2010 layouts.
Supplies: Pattern paper, chipboard elements – Basic Grey (Nordic Holiday Collection), Letters-Thickers, Cardstock-Bazzil, Sketch- Allison Davis- Two-Page Sketch #9 (Scrapbook Generation).
Today I’d like to show you another holiday layout. This two page layout is based of a sketch from Sketches for Scrapbooking vol 5 (Allison Davis). Thank you once again Allison for the inspiration.
The background paper follows the sketch but I’ve changed a bunch of other stuff. The sketch had 7 photos and here I’ve only used 4. I decided to enlarge the photo on the left page to 5×7 because I was only putting one on this page (instead of 5). I do like the times where I can have a larger photo on a layout. I don’t think I’ve ever done a layout where I just have one tiny wallet sized photo. I love seeing layouts where people can do this but I love my photos too much to ever go this reduced!
I’ve used Basic Grey’s Nordic Holiday collection once again for this layout. It’s the 5th layout I’ve created with this collection. Here’s a link to the other Nordic Holiday layouts.
If you do a lot of scrapbooking or card making, I highly encourage you to buy the collections. I find that I get more use out of these supplies because you have all the paper choices, tons of embellishments and color options. Not all companies sell everything in a package together but I always look at what’s available when making a purchase to ensure I get the right stuff. As I am writing this I am reminded of my closet and how I like to do this with clothes. If I like a shirt I might want to get it in 2 or 3 colors. Right Nicole?! If something is comfy I figure why not fully enjoy it! I guess I don’t differ that much in my scrapbooking shopping approach either.
I added these lovely felt ornaments to both sides since I didn’t put a photo in this spot. The two blue ornaments are my favorite! They are so soft and give the feeling of warmth on these cold days.
After this post, I just have one more layout to share from this collection. It’s my favorite one so I can’t wait to show you!
Supplies: Pattern paper, felt ornaments, chipboard elements, sentiment stickers-Basic Grey (Nordic Holiday Collection), Cardstock-Bazzil, Sketch- Allison Davis- Sketches for Scrapbooking vol #5 page 20 (Scrapbook Generation).
Happy New Year! I am so excited about 2013. Tonight I have been writing down some of my personal goals for the new year. Just thinking of the things I’d like to cross off my craft goal list makes me excited.
Today I’d like to share a winter snow layout. These photos were taken two years ago during our holiday break. I love having time off from work and being able to do day trips up to the pass to enjoy the snow.
Gavin loved the snow and had a great time building “lig-loos” with daddy. After seeing these pictures I can’t wait to get out to play on the slopes or go tubing.
This layout is based on an Allison Davis (Scrapbook Generation) sketch. I decided to add my journaling block to the left side of the layout because I wanted the blue/white plaid pattern to show through. I added some snowflake circle accents to add some detail to this bottom panel.
I love the snowflakes in this collection. Especially the polka dot navy & red one above. Polka dots are my favorite!!

Today is Day 12 of the 12 Days of Christmas posts on Laurel Lane.
Merry Christmas! I hope you’ve enjoyed the holiday time.
Tonight I’d like to show you my last two Santa layouts that are in the Santa album. Last night I showed you year one. Below you’ll see years two & three. Year four can be seen here.
Throughout this book I am sticking to the same layout for all the pages. It’s based on a sketch by Allison Davis.
Both of these were done 2-3 years ago right after the photo with Santa.
I used the same Basic Grey paper for both layouts. The great thing about this layout is that it doesn’t take much paper. Since the photos are so large I don’t add extra embellishments. I want the photos to be the focus of the layouts.
Year Three: As I look at the photo I see I need to add an astrosphere to Santa’s in the title! Funny how I didn’t notice before.
This wraps up my 12 days posts. I’ve had fun doing some scrapbooking scrapbooking this month and am always motivated by a challenge. I have a few more winter layouts I’m planning to to finish up this week so that I can move on to another portion of my long scrapbooking to-do list. I hope you’ve enjoyed the increased posts the last two weeks.
See all pages of the Santa album here.

Today is Day 8 of the 12 Days of Christmas posts on Laurel Lane.
I’d like to share another Christmas layout that I completed just this week. I found the sketch, printed the photos and then did the layout all this week. I love scrapbooking during weekdays! (when I have time off from work)
I am excited how this one came together because I think this paper worked out perfectly. I’ve used Nordic Holiday again (Basic Grey) and I just love this collection. It’s so warm and cozy. The green pattern on the right looks just like the cute sweaters my two nieces are wearing. Thanks girls for the inspiration. It’s such a perfect combo!
I used one of Allison Davis’ sketches (two page #25) I choose this sketch because it gives you the opportunity to show a lot of pattern papers! All of the pieces used here are very busy but I still think it works. It’s not my typical use of patterns but I really like it and want to use this one again.
Here’s the sketch:
I used the Santa, snowflake & heart chipboard shapes. Also used the the title & word stickers that I popped up with pop-dots.
Now I just have two more 2010 holiday layouts to complete (Christmas Day & Gingerbread Houses). I am already done with my 2011 holiday layouts so I am very motivated to finish these last two and wrap up my holiday work. I still have some Nordic Holiday left so I am hoping that I can use it for one more layout.
Supplies: Pattern paper, chipboard accents-Basic Grey (Nordic Holiday Collection), Cardstock-Bazzil, Sketch- Allison Davis (two-page #25) Scrapbook Generation, Distress Ink-Tim Holtz
Hope you all have enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday week if you are in the US. We enjoyed two wonderful thanksgiving dinners (luckily they were not on the same days). Now it’s time to get the house ready for Christmas. It’s so fun to see all of the holiday lights starting to appear all around town on the houses.
Today I’d like to share a page kit that I completed last month at the scrapbook retreat. This kit is from Scrapbook Generation and is the Boy Crazy kit from earlier this year. The kit comes with everything you need to make this layout (the paper, sketch and a photo of the completed layout). This is a great way to get some layouts done quickly when you don’t have as much time as you’d like to plan layouts. This kit has titles & embellishments that say “my boy.” I decided to use this for a graduation celebration so made a new “celebration” title so that it would work for this event.
Here’s my layout:
I love that this sketch incorporates so many photos, especially when the hero image is 5×7! Getting 8 photos on one layout is great when you have a lot of photos from one setting.
Here’s the sketch:
I’d like to use this sketch again when I have beautiful pattern paper that I want to make sure get highlighted in the layout.
I love the chevrons in this My Mind’s Eye paper collection. The bigger yellow pattern is very cool with the multi-colored smaller pattern.
Enjoy your Sunday. I am trying to finish up some holidays layouts so that I can share them in December. I’m thinking about “12 days of Christmas” set of posts to count down to Christmas.
Supplies: Boy Crazy Page Kit from Scrapbook Generation, paper, decorative stickers-indie chic by My Mind’s Eye. Nutmeg “History” Medallions Paper and Nutmeg “Family” Laurel Burst Paper. (the blue one with the diamonds-I love when I see scrapbook paper with my name!), stickers in title-Thickers (Amy Tangerine)
