Celebration (3)

Hope you all have enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday week if you are in the US.  We enjoyed two wonderful thanksgiving dinners (luckily they were not on the same days).  Now it’s time to get the house ready for Christmas.  It’s so fun to see all of the holiday lights starting to appear all around town on the houses.

Today I’d like to share a page kit that I completed last month at the scrapbook retreat.  This kit is from Scrapbook Generation and is the Boy Crazy kit from earlier this year.  The kit comes with everything you need to make this layout (the paper, sketch and a photo of the completed layout).  This is a great way to get some layouts done quickly when you don’t have as much time as you’d like to plan layouts.   This kit has titles & embellishments that say “my boy.”  I decided to use this for a graduation celebration so made a new “celebration” title so that it would work for this event.

Here’s my layout:

Celebration (15)I love that this sketch incorporates so many photos, especially when the hero image is 5×7!  Getting 8 photos on one layout is great when you have a lot of photos from one setting.

Here’s the sketch:

I’d like to use this sketch again when I have beautiful pattern paper that I want to make sure get highlighted in the layout.

I love the chevrons in this My Mind’s Eye paper collection.   The bigger yellow pattern is very cool with the multi-colored smaller pattern.

Celebration (13)

Enjoy your Sunday.  I am trying to finish up some holidays layouts so that I can share them in December.  I’m thinking about “12 days of Christmas” set of posts to count down to Christmas.

Supplies:  Boy Crazy Page Kit from Scrapbook Generation, paper, decorative stickers-indie chic by My Mind’s Eye.  Nutmeg “History” Medallions Paper and Nutmeg “Family” Laurel Burst Paper. (the blue one with the diamonds-I love when I see scrapbook paper with my name!), stickers in title-Thickers (Amy Tangerine)

Merry & Bright

Sharing another holiday layout that I completed this winter.

This layout is based on One-Page Sketch #16 found at Sketch Support.  When I saw this sketch I immediately knew I’d do it because I had this great holiday paper with many beautiful ornaments.

I rarely do one page layouts so knew I’d turn this sketch into a two page spread.  This was an easy sketch to expand to two-pages.  I love that this layout offers the use of so MANY photos (I’ve used 19 in my layout)!  Also, I like to have a photo of our tree in at least one layout each holiday and this layout offers the vertical 4×6 to showcase a tall tree photo.

I tried the We R Memory Keepers sewing tool for the first time.  It was fairly easy but did take me a few tries to get the hang of it.  I think I’ll get better each time used to how hard I need to push to make the holes.

I raised the cardstock ornaments up with pop dots adding some dimension.

Variations:

  • Moved the large solid (green pattern paper) close to the center edge of the layout so that it would be continuous onto the second page.  It didn’t work as well with so many photos for there to be the white space.
  • Added a third row of photos to be able to get more of the many photos taken on this day.  (19 total here)
