Today I’d like to share all the photos from the fish birthday party. This time I didn’t have the desire or time to make all the paper decorations I have in the past for Gavin’s last party. Instead I decided to create some sweets that were easy to make the day of the party and could be done by my husband. Below you’ll see all the photos from the party and If you’d like more info about how we made things I’ve linked to the individual posts throughout.
The invitation set the theme of fish that I ended up weaving into everything else.
Made a large fish welcome sign (12×12) to hang on the front door. I didn’t have time to add words so I just kept it simple with the big orange fish. We had bunches of turquoise and orange polka dot balloons.
I hung orange, turquoise and white paper lanterns from the archways. I hoped to add eyes and tails to them so that they would be cute fish but ran out of time. The lanterns still looked great on their own.
Served Orange Passion Mango Soda (World Market) with the colorful orange & blue drink flags.
The table was full of sweets from the fish M&M cupcakes, goldfish marshmallow pops, gummy fish skewers (sent home as favors). Also we had blueberries, carrots, goldfish and then pizza for the kids & adults.
Thin crust flatbread pizza (from Safeway). It’s so tasty and easy to eat. Everyone loved it.
Goldfish pizzas for the kids made from flatbread with sauce, cheese and an olive for the eye. Pepperidge Farms makes goldfish sandwich bread but unfortunately it’s not available on the west coast. Thank you to my girlfriend Pam who has a big goldfish shaped cracker box that doubled as a cutout to make the goldfish shape. I couldn’t have made these without her help-thank you Pam! I was so thrilled with how cute these pizzas turned out and they were very yummy!
M&M fish cupcakes were my inspiration for the entire party. I love how vibrant the frosting colors are and the bright matching M&Ms. These cupcakes were really yummy. The vanilla cake goes really well with chocolate M&M’s in each bite.
Mini goldfish & bubble sugar cookies from Auntie Bea’s Bakery. I ordered these adorable sugar cookies from Bea’s Etsy shop. They were beautiful cookies and were delicious. I love finding cookies for my parties from Etsy that can add to everything else at the party. The owl cookies from Gwen’s first birthday were so cute that I’d like to continue this tradition.
I really enjoyed watching all the kids make their fish hand art. Each canvas turned out unique.
Gavin & Gwen in their cute chevron goldfish shirts. Ordered these from Sweet Threads Clothing (Etsy) and customized the shirts so they’d each have different colors. I really love these shirts because the material is thick (not too thick), a bit stretchy and soft at the same time. The chevron circle applique is stitched around the edges and it gets a little worn/frayed around the edge each time it’s washed. It’s a great look and the kids have been asking to wear them all summer.
Happy Birthday Gavin!!
Gwen was so excited about the “happy birthday party” cupcakes and couldn’t wait to try one. I love Gwen’s expression and how Gavin’s even noticed her eye on the cupcakes.
