Goldfish Marshmallow Pops

Goldfish Marshmallow Pops (6)

I came across these cute goldfish marshmallow on Etsy when searching for ideas for Gavin’s Fish Birthday Party.   I showed them to my husband and he was thrilled to have the opportunity to make them.  He has a super sweet tooth and loves to cook.   I am so glad that that he loves to cook and make all the delicious treats for parties.

The great news is that these are easy treats to make if you are up for a little DIY project.  The best part is that they are so very tasty!  Everyone LOVED eating these pops at the party, they are a great combination of sweet with a little salty.  There’s something that works really well with the combination of the candy melt, marshmallow and graham crackers.

We didn’t use the traditional goldfish flavored crackers because my husband didn’t think cheese flavored crackers would taste good with marshmallows.  He found some vanilla cupcake goldfish crackers that were the perfect flavor.

Here are some tips and photos from the process:

We experimented with using jumbo marshmallows but they didn’t work.  They are too big to cover with candy and then too large to eat.  Regular size marshmallows are the perfect bite or two size.

When heating up the candy if it’s not the right consistency add some vegetable shortening (Crisco) so that you can dip the marshmallows to get the desired effect.  It shouldn’t be clumpy.   The shortening will make it smooth and will give you the desired appearance.

  1. Laurel, I looked at this post 2x before I saw the goldfish on the marshmallow. Such a nice touch with the blue water so it looks like it’s actually swimming! Really well done, I will make these for the twins when they come out for a visit. Goldfish are the favorite food of 2 year old (almost) boys!
