Today I’d like to share a handmade invitation that I made for an upcoming baby shower. The theme for the baby shower is elephants with chevron patterns. The momma & baby girl elephant clip art files are so sweet, I am so glad that they are being used for this celebration! As you all know, chevron patterns are on trend right now (in scrapbooking, fashion, & décor) and I love being able to incorporate them into the handmade decorations. The three colors we are using for all the party are light pink, teal blue and red (see the digital papers below).
I got the idea to use this beautiful shape for the main portion of the invitation from a great post on the Silhouette blog. I had been playing around with the design, wanting to use the red chevron background but it’s a lot on it’s own. I hadn’t figured out how to pull it all together until I saw this idea. With the label shape on top of the pattern it peeks out but also lets the invitation body stand out. Thank you Jeana for the idea & inspiration!
I printed the background chevron paper from digital files, designed the invite with the silhouette and popped up the blue banner baby shower flag (with pop dots). Digital paper is fun for making party stuff because you can print as much as you need.
The momma elephant has three hearts coming out of her trunk, where I’ve added glitter glue for a little sparkle. Thank you Michelle & Christine for helping me assemble the invites!
If you are looking to make these yourself, here’s all the elements I used for this invite.

We’ve been busy creating a bunch of other cute & fun things for the baby shower. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on. Or even tell you the things we are making, but I can’t say that either! It won’t be for another month though because I want to surprise the expectant momma. It’s hard for me to keep surprises though so this will be fun to see if I can actually do it. Since she’s a fellow crafter it’s all that much harder to keep it quiet but surprising her on the big day will be worth it!
