12 Days of Christmas Layout

12 Days of Christmas (3)

Hello! Today is Day 2 of the 12 Days of Christmas posts on Laurel Lane.

Tonight I’d like to share a one-page layout that will be the first page for my holiday 2011 layouts.  I do a separate Christmas album (with only holiday layouts) and I like to do a one-page layout to start the new year with photos that aren’t used in the other layouts.  In this one-pager I typically like to show the small details, decorations or try to capture something significant for our family.  This year was Gwen’s first Christmas (6 months old) and we had a wonderful time opening up some new ornaments from Crate & Barrel (I LOVE their holiday stuff).    It was so much fun to watch her explore the ornaments and try to put all of them in her mouth.    Chris loves to bake so it’s wonderful to remember all the sweet treats that he creates and these gingerbread men were so tasty!  We had fun decorating them.

My layout is based on an Allison Davis sketch from her new vol 2 one-page book.  I used 5 photos just like the sketch but did them in different sizes to fit my photos.  I also had to move the journaling block from the top right to the left side because of the arrangement of the photos.

Here’s a close up of the stitching I added to the banner flags to help keep them down.  My sewing machine came back from the shop last night and I was so excited to have it working again!!  A few months ago it suddenly stopped working so I took it in to get fixed.  However, when I brought it home it didn’t work for me.  Took it back and turned out it was the foot pedal that had gone bad (I think they used their foot pedal to service it the first time).  I am so glad it’s fixed because I have a stack of layouts that I need to finish with some stitching.

My favorite part about using the sewing machine is how it holds down the paper so well, you never have to worry about it shifting.

  1. CONGRATS, Laurel, on getting published in Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine! Super Excited for You! I gotta give you a “Woooooo-Hoooooooooooo”! I’m looking at your 2-page LO right now…Love It! I love the way you arranged all your photos and included action shots. Love how you arranged the large ornaments on your pages…using the Sew Easy is SO clever. Which Crate Paper Collection did you use for your “May Your Christmas Be Merry & Bright” project? Adorable. Thanks for the inspiration!

    • Hi Renee-thank you!! This is the North Pole collection and I think it’s SUPER old. It came in a black friday pack I got a few years back that was full of a bunch of different papers. I love when those buys work out! Wasn’t your sunburst fun to make? I did one a few months ago where I expanded it to a two page layout. I’ll be posting it after all the holiday layouts. Next time I am going to try it where I do one 12 inch photo on the page, love how you enlarged it. Thanks for the idea!! Glad you followed me too! I found you a while back and posts via the wp reader.

      • I saw this collection online…how adorable! What a great Collection (I don’t have North Pole) and fab that you got a black friday deal on it! Definitely looking forward to your 2 page LO with the sunburst. Thanks! Have a great day! Later!
