Today I’d like to share a scrapbook layout that I completed over the long weekend. I was inspired to do this layout from the Sunday Sketch posting on Studio Calico this week. I’ve wanted to use these cool wood veneer cameras on a layout and this was the perfect opportunity to mix them with some Amy Tangerine Sketchbook paper. I considered misting the wood but with this paper it looked better keeping them natural, they have this beautiful warm color to the wood that’s so lovely. I’ll mist some for another project.
Here’s the sketch: (based on Amy Tan’s layout) I like the way this sketch has multiple borders and was inspired to do a layout. I was creating some paper flowers Sunday night so when I saw this it was a good distraction and break from that project.
Here’s my layout: I expanded it to a two page layout. I always have more than a few photos I want to use so I rarely do one page layouts. Moved the journaling to the far right side and then made a nice box to contain all of the wood cameras.
I sure love the bright colors and sketchy designs in this collection. It might not immediately pop out as being something to use for baby girl layouts but it sure is perfect! This blue graph paper on the background is called “Gwyneth’s Graph” and I am going to say it was named for our baby Gwenyth. (not really but fun when there’s a connection like this) All the more perfect to use for Gwen’s layout! I hope Amy will do more collections with bright colors in the future because I can’t get enough of Sketchbook (made a vase of paper flowers with the Silhouette that I’ll share soon).
