Here are a few more cards that I made this weekend to play along with Monday Card Madness #84 from last week.
Here’s the sketch:
I like that there are multiple layers of paper & patterns used in this this sketch. I used my 6×6 What’s Up paper pack (BasicGrey) and there are only a few solid papers so I tried to work the patterns together but not make it too busy. The best thing about the 6×6 paper packs is that they print the patterns smaller so that they work really well for small sized pieces like cards.
Next time I have so many patterns, I’d like to try the opposite look and keep a simple white background as the main stage. Then add just a touch of pattern for accent.
I used the flair stickers on the bottom left of each card and they are nice & thick to give great dimension. They remind me of those pins the wait staff wear at TGI Fridays but they have a sticker on the back. A fun idea for an embellishment!
Next I want to do a 2 page layout with this paper so I stopped by Ben Franklin to get a few 12×12 sheets (it was interesting to see how much larger the patterns are on the full sheets). For the layout, I am going to use the same flags you see here but expand it across both pages. It will be fun to see how it turns out. Not sure if I can use some photos of Gavin or if there will be too much purple/pink for boy photos. We’ll see!

At this rate, you should be able to open a card store in the near future!
Laurel, these are adorable!!!!!! And I didn’t like that paper before…dang it…now I do!! LOL
that’s how I feel about the blue/wood grain MME papers you’ve been using. Passed them up at first but now I keep thinking…hmm.
